Why EatJesus?
This blog is owned and managed by Matt Sweetman, a church planter in Chicago, who desires to create an online resource that has a wide influence in the kingdom of God. Money generated from the sale of related products and advertisements will support his church planting efforts in Chicago and allow the church to finance other movements throughout the city, state, nation and world.
We dream about this site becoming more and more popular so that it can resource the leaders throughout the body of Christ and continue to resource church planting. If you haven’t, please watch the 60 second info video at the top of the screen to get a brief grasp on the concept behind EatJesus.com. This is a multi-author blog by church leaders and church planters designed to help you bring people to maturity in Christ.
In our culture we have two extremes. There are the “spooners”, those who come on Sunday and never learn to connect with Jesus for themselves. Or, there are the religious elite, who are very knowledgeable of the Bible, yet don’t know the person of Jesus. This really is a tragedy for both.
We are a group of Christian pioneers desiring to reclaim the mission of making disciples and not just trying to beef up our attendance, although we want more people to come to Jesus, but we desire to be faithful to both ends of the mission, bringing people into maturity in Christ. The best way to do this is to create a personal responsibility in each Christian to take ownership of their own spiritual growth. We need intentional disciples who don’t love attendence, or memorization, but love the person of Jesus.
